Travel by car

From the south and the west, Ostfriesland is quickly accessible via the new A31. The travel time from the Ruhr Area is less than two hours.

From the southeast, the A1 and the A29 lead via Oldenburg into the region. In the summer season, there are motorail trains from Munich and Lörrach to Bremen.

Only the islands of Borkum and Norderney permit the use of a private car – albeit in very restricted form. The islands of Juist, Baltrum, Langeoog, Spiekeroog and Wangerooge are completely free of cars and motor-cycles. If you arrive with your own car, you can leave it on the guarded parking places near the ferry harbors at a charge during your holidays.
