What kind of clothing is recommended to take with you for a visit at East Friesland?

Despite rumors, East Friesland is a region of good weather! The enormous rain clouds which sometimes appear over the North Sea often disperse the rain far into the land, so that East Friesland is in fact one of the regions in Germany with less rain and much sun. The Atlantic Gulf Stream always results in balanced temperatures with mild summers and not too cold winters.

Because of the often fresh North Sea breeze, you should take a wind and rain resistant jacket also in summer. That is why also the „Friesian mink“ has its origin in East Friesland, a yellow rain jacket which was very popular between the beginning of the seventies until the middle of the eighties in the 20th century, and which today has – particularly among tourists –a cult status.
